Glowing maggots and the such like
Yesterday i went tubing in some caves which was a pretty awesome experience. We walked through a couple of dark, underground passageways before jumping down a waterfall backwards and drifting down the river in our tubes (basically large rubber rings) in a line looking up at the thousands of glowworms (maggots) on the roof of the caves. Apparently it's their intestines that glow due the reaction of their waste product and the oxygen in the air. The water was SO unbelievably cold down there that once back the warm shower was very much needed and i don't think that i have ever wolfed down warm tomato soup and bagels so fast in my life. The two group leaders where really nice (Brad and Chad) even if they did only seem about 18 they knew a lot about caving :) Today i spent most of the day on the bus driving (well, being driven) from Watimo to Taupo where we are now and tomorrow we are heading off on a hike up the volcano which was Mount Doom in the Lord of the Rings so that will be my exercise for the next few weeks - Whoopie!

Yay that all sounds awesome Mak :) Very jealous of the caving and zooming down waterfalls thing.
On a completely unrelated topic, I have a massive craving for beanfeast!
