Indian Living

OK, so i have discovered that i am not the best person at keeping a blog, but at least i try...
Here is a draft I saved which i didnt have time to complete on return from Podia, Orssia:

We returned from Podia and had an AWESOME last week with all the TREAD family. Once back at Shiloh We had a day rest and in the evening they took us out shopping which was an experience to say the least... The shops are more like specific Credit Crunchers, we bought some material, henna, bangles and finally a mobile phone. After much debating as to whether we are on pay as you go or a contract we decided that it was a bit of both as we have to top up each month to keep our sim active and once we have topped up all remaining balance before topping up is wiped out. However calls only cost 1 rupee to make to other moblies which works out at 0.012 pounds a minute. The ringtones we can select are pretty groovy Indian tunes and since leaving Andra Pradesh we have been getting quite a few calls!!

So that was probably about two weeks ago. Since then we have travelled the 20hour train journey to Thrissur, Kerela. Attempting it in two stints with a stop for about 12 hours during the day in Chennai. The trains where pretty good and we did managed to sleep which made the journies go A LOT quicker even if we were surrounded by burping, coughing, Indian men. In Chennai we hired a car for the afternoon and went sightseeing. We discovered it wasnt the best place on earth although we did the place where St Thomas was killed, there was even a cross, painted red, which weeped blood in the 15th to 16th century and relic of his bone... (oh us of little faith). We are now with Mary and Kat until Sunday where we head o Allepy for the houseboat stint of our travels. Since arriving here we have painted a Mercy Home, been to a Church dedication, a 3hour church service in Malyam, been shopping many times, been to an Indian supermarket... and been very very very well looked after by Mary and Cat. Yesterday we went with them to one of the Mercy Homes where they were doing a clinic for 25 children. It really brought home the amazing work they are doing out here.

Although the snow back home looks awesome, palm trees and sun are suiting us pretty well :)
